With the start of the fall semester upon us, SUUSA wishes to invite all students back to campus and are excited to get to work.

Coinciding with the theme "Feel the Thunder," SUUSA has planned several events with the help of the university to get the ball rolling and help all to Feel the Thunder!

The first event, other than welcome week, that is going to help students to "Feel the Thunder" is a bus that is going to the SUU football season opener.

The opening game is at the Air Force Academy and SUUSA, in partnership with the Administration of Southern Utah University, is sending a bus full of students to the game to cheer our players on!

The tickets can be purchased on a first-come, first-served basis at the SUUSA offices at 7 a.m. on Aug. 25 for $65. This cost will cover the bus ride, one night in a hotel and ticket into the game. SUUSA is excited for this opportunity to give to the students.

The next initiative that will be revolutionizing the face of the SUU campus is a new sponsored organization called the Thor Corps.

The Thor Corps has been an idea that has been in development since the end of the last school year and will represent SUU during athletic and other campus events as a cheering section intended for students.

The Thor Corps has a T-shirt designed specifically with them in mind and focuses on being a representative incorporating our mascot, Thor. Membership for the club will be set at $25 for 5 people, or $10 for one.

The membership includes a shirt, entrance into all Thor Corps activities (i.e. tailgate parties etc.) and the opportunity to be the loudest crowd in the nation!

More information can be found in the SUUSA offices on the second floor of the Sharwan Smith Center or at a Thor Corps table during athletic events.

SUUSA again wishes to welcome all returning students and all new students to SUU and encourage them to take advantage of all that the university has to offer academically and socially.

The year is just beginning, but as it begins, SUUSA hopes that people will get involved. Please feel free to come to the SUUSA offices if you have ideas, comments or concerns.

Jon McNaughtan, SUUSA president; Jessica Brooks, SUUSA activities vice president; Daniel Strange, SUUSA academics vice president and Megan Atkinson, SUUSA involvement vice president are the SUUSA Executive Council for 2008-2009.
